An important lesson in life, that one has to learn the hard way, is that you need to surround yourself with people who will appreciate you for you, who will be there for you and support you no matter what. Don’t surround yourself with people who are making you feel lonely and like you have to go through the ups and the downs of life by yourself.
One can be physically surrounded by people meaning that you are technically not alone, but if its people who put you down or don’t treat you like you deserve to be treated it can in fact still make you feel very lonely and alone. So what Robin Williams says above is so true, it’s actually much worse in life to be with people who make you feel alone. They will disappoint you and hurt you more than if you didn’t have them in your life, and that in fact being actually alone would be less painful.
So as hard as it may be, you need to let go of these people, because ultimately they aren’t good for you and have no right to be a part of your life if they are making you feel this way, either on purpose or not. Moving on is hard and unpleasant, but finding the right people who make you feel loved, appreciated and supported will be so worth it in the end.
