I am someone who is the exact definition of a TCK (Third Culture Kid), meaning I have moved around my whole life, lived in many different countries and experienced many different cultures. Also throughout my education, from kindergarten through to my masters, I have been to many different local and international schools. This has allowed me to meet people from all over the world and develop a network of friends on a global scale.
This is something I believe is one of the most wonderful things about being an expat and a TCK because no matter where I go in the world I have someone in that country who I can see. However there is a slight downside and that is what is stated in the quote above. You will never feel completely at home anywhere again because it’s true, pieces of your heart are spread around the world with the people who you have come to know and love.
It is something I am extremely privileged to experience and I wouldn’t give it up for anything. My home is not one physical or stable place, but rather I am at home when I am with the people I care about, no matter where I am in the world.
