Now I know there are tons of people who are very anti-valentines day and just call it a Hallmark holiday or try to argue that shouldn’t every day be like valentines day and that showing how much you love someone shouldn’t be solely on one day. And that’s true to an extent, you shouldn’t just show your love on one day, but rather more often and spontaneously, when it’s least expected and will be most appreciated. However I think it’s still important to take one day globally and celebrate love, as it’s such a large part of our lives.
There is no need to spend exorbitant amounts on gifts, especially if you can’t afford it. It really is all about the gesture and the thought. Whether it be breakfast in bed, a thoughtfully written card and flowers, or home made chocolate dipped strawberries (recipe here) and champagne. Obviously it all depends on the person and what you think will make them feel special and loved this Valentines.
And to finish off I want to show one of the best advertisements I have ever seen for Valentines Day. It is so touching and actually brought tears to my eyes because it was so moving. Even though it’s a commercial, what the actors portray is something so genuine and simple yet extremely powerful and what I believe it’s all about.
P.s. And for singletons like me, Happy Single Awareness day!
