A brief overview of the fourth talk from the Vogue Festival 2014 and the interesting things I learnt. Enjoy!
Topic: What’s it Really Like to Work in Fashion?
Guest Speakers: Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Edie Campbell, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
The first talk on Sunday was with 4 of the world’s biggest models at the moment, Edie Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jourdan Dunn (all British) and Karlie Kloss (the one American on the panel). Compared to other talks this one was much more light-hearted. They discussed how they began their careers, how they each got scouted, and what some of the craziest things they have had to do for their job. For example, Edie had to stand naked for 7 hours while her whole body was painted and then only had to do a 3 min catwalk…insane!
It was really nice to see the human side to these beautiful ladies we see gracing our magazines weekly. They loved what they do and yet once again had a humility about them that was really surprising and refreshing. During the talk there was a fantastic moment where Karlie got up and showed us her walk, which was very cool to see, and Edie got up and did the “Edie” which is a pose she is now known for.
What a great way it was to begin the last day of the festival listening to such fun and beautiful women about their careers in this crazy fashion industry.
